Pulling Up Stakes

I wrote this post 11 months ago, on our final day in Manchester, England. We’d been back for almost two weeks and this is my last blog post for 2016. For some reason, I never posted it. So, here goes! Coming soon -- my first post of 2017!

We all wanted Fred to see the Northern Quarter of Manchester, go thrifting and have tea and scones and clotted cream at “our” tea house. So that’s what we did. Tons of walking, followed by a Urban Sketchers Farewell cocktail party, then dinner at a cool pub. Up and out in the am after our last buffet breakfast of eggs, Irish bacon, roasted tomatoes, yogurt, cheese, bread, tea, cappuccino, and still much more.

One thing we passed on our walk was a sort of farmers' market. This woman looks so English with her Cath Kidston apron.

Fred and Henry went into a used book store while Owen and I waited outside. (The first bookstore both boys went into with Fred turned out to be just pornography.)  Billie Holiday was blasting out of this one while we stood there in the drizzle.

There was a Comic Con going on this day. CRAZY characters all over.

We stopped in the Manchester Library, a very special old place, more like a museum. THIS was an umbrella stand!

Back at the tea house with Fred this time!

                                                                                                                                                                Gotta love British advertising!

I wanted to be THERE!

Owen thoroughly enjoyed all the fancy cars. So many more nice cars in England than where we live in the US. Weather maybe?

The wall at the Sketchers party was filled with drawings of cars in honor of an Urban Sketcher who died this year. I think he was a car lover.

Fred and I snuck out to Briton's Protection (the nearby pub from our first day in Manchester).

And on that note, Cheers!
